Summit a Freedom School site for Summer 2011

Summit UMC has been selected as one of Ohio's 20 Children's Defense Fund Freedom School sites for this summer! CDF Freedom Schools are 6-week summer programs that: "...provide summer and after-school enrichment that helps children fall in love with reading, increases their self-esteem, and generates more positive attitudes toward learning. Children are taught using a model curriculum that supports children and families around five essential components: high quality academic enrichment; parent and family involvement; civic engagement and social action; intergenerational leadership development; and nutrition, health and mental health."

Summit will partner with Maynard UMC to deliver programming for 80 students from Pre-K to Grade 12 this summer—Maynard will serve 20 Pre-K to Grade 2 students while Summit serves 60 Grade 3 to Grade 12 students. If you are interested in financially supporting Summit's Freedom School or enrolling your child in the program, visit this website or contact Mark Reed for more information.
