Music
People from all musical backgrounds are invited to
join in music-
making at Summit, whether in the choir, or as instrumentalists, or
in
the congregation. Summit is home to a wide variety of music,
from
traditional to contemporary hymns and anthems, world music,
Hispanic
and African American songs, classical masterworks, and
more. Choir,
organ, drums, guitar, and congregational singing, are all a
regular
part of the musical life of Summit.
Choir
Summit's choir sings several items weekly in
worship from September
thru May.
Rehearsals are Thursdays 6:30 pm - 7:30 pm and
Sundays at 9:15 am
Small book grants (c. $100) are available for students who sing
regularly with Summit's choir.
Instrumentalists
Worship opens every week with a sung introit
accompanied by conga and
djembé drums. A small praise band (guitar, drums, piano and
vocals)
leads the more contemporary hymns, and also the offertory music.
We
often welcome guest instrumentalists, including OSU students and
others.
Recitals
Music students and others are welcome to book
Summit for use as a
recital space.
