Position Title: Missions Outreach Coordinator

Description: Summit on Sixteenth, a United Methodist Church in the OSU area, is an inclusive community whose mission is to make disciples of Jesus Christ through spiritual growth and manifested in social justice.  Summit is open and affirming of ALL persons.  We are looking to hire an individual with: 

Ministry Empowering Responsibilities  (main summary of activities)

Connect the church with three key target audiences:

  1. Neighbors within the OSU community, including the Short North, Victorian Village, Clintonville and University Area

  2. OSU students, faculty and staff

  3. Members of the Gay/Lesbian/Bisexual/Transgender (GLBT) community.

Efforts will focus on evangelism through marketing.

Principle Program Leadership Responsibilities (actions to expand main summary above)

  • Oversee execution of general marketing plan by working closely with appointed marketing committee

  • Assist in the work of finding innovative, community-serving and revenue-generating uses for the church’s space

  • Coordinate and promote special events both with the church and with other organizational/individual partners

  • Network with community/neighborhood/OSU leaders, including a contact database and monitoring and updating individual files

  • Facilitate communication with the congregation

  • Manage expenditures as directed by the marketing committee

Attend staff meetings and Leaders’ Luncheons.

Attend marketing meeting and others as needed to accomplish ministry objectives.

Interact with freelance experts who will provide graphics, web support, writing and other related functions.

Performance Goals are established yearly with lead pastor, marketing committee, and Staff/Parish Relations Committee, and directed, in part, by the church’s marketing plan.

This is a part-time position, with the expectation of 20-25 hours per week. Beginning Salary is $12,500-15,000 annually and is set yearly by recommendation of the Staff/Parish Relations Committee and approved by the Church Council.
